An assessment is a good place to start when you want to improve your processes. Assessments can be done on testing capabilities, quality management capabilities and processes, or a combination of both.
Quality management capabilities cross team boundaries and are part of the organization culture. Assessments at this level are more time consuming since alignment across teams and organizational structures need to be considered. Janet uses a combination of process retrospectives, workshops, and interviews to understand the current situation. After completing assessment activities, she identifies gaps in areas of testing and quality practices.
Assessing one team’s testing capabilities can be done more informally. Janet works closely with the team to understand their current practices and helps them figure out what they need to improve.
At the end of every assessment, Janet provides her observations and recommendations. If the organization wishes to continue, Janet provides consulting services which may include workshops to help the teams learn new behaviours.
